HAPPY RESUMPTION 🎉🎉

🥳🥳🥳 It's resumption time in most schools this week and a lot of teachers are anticipating to meet with the pupils coming into their classes for the very first time since it's a new academic session.

 Several years ago, like most teachers right now; I get agitated about the first day of school and especially meeting my pupils and their parents for possibly the very first time. I'd always wonder, "...will they love me or they'd rather run back to their former teacher?" Will their parents accept me? All these and more were some of the questions I had to deal with in my early experience as a class teacher. Thankfully, I'm one who constantly invest in personal development and I know better now. Please permit me to share these tips with you on what is expected on the first week of resumption.

DOs

1. Relax your nerves -  The child and parents will sense your anxiety. It could be easily interpreted as lack of confidence. First impression matters a lot.

2. Introduce yourself and the class you teach in the most interesting manner. 

3.  Tell stories - Show some sense of humour and make them laugh as you share some experiences with them in a funny manner. Listen to their stories too and encourage every child to speak. 

4. Teach a new song and add some actions or demonstrations to the song.

5. Set ground rules. Encourage the children to suggest guiding rules for the class.

Don'ts

1. Do not introduce serious academic work on the first day.

2. Don't dish out ground rules vehemently on the first day. Encourage the Children to participate while creating class rules.

3. Don't yell or speak too loudly. 

4. Don't spank for any reason.

5. Don't give funny nick names or make mockery of any child.
